Irish Micro Mouldings Limited - IMM is located 20 minutes west of Galway City. We are within easy commuting distance for same day delivery to Dublin and all major Irish cities. IMM has been trading for 21 years and are specialists in injection moulding, assembly and finishing of mainly plastic based products. We do this, largely for medical and other industries. As well as standard injection moulding, we insert mould, over mould and micro mould as the name suggests.

Complete Injection Moulding Solutions

Our machines range from 5 tons to 200 tons and we can process all thermoplastics. A wide range of secondary and finishing operations go hand in hand with the moulding. As well as moulding, all tool builds and tool maintenance are managed internally. Located next door, Galway Tool & Mould provides all the services needed for the moulding shop. Insert moulding, over moulding, and other specialist techniques are also carried out in house. We also have clean room facilities and can carry out moulding and assembly operations there in.

Micro Moulding

As the name suggests, the company has specific capabilities in the production of micro parts. We are the first company in Ireland to offer the use of the Battenfeld micro moulder as a contract service. We can make micro parts, < 0.0002 gram and lower, with the recently installed micro moulder with its own integral clean room. Fundamental to the moulding of micro parts, is the micro moulding tooling. Galway Tool and Mould have installed new equipment to provide this. Tolerances of 0.004mm and tighter are achievable. As well as micro tooling and micro molding we have also installed specific measurement equipment to complete the micro molding service.

Product Assembly and Finishing

This involves several processes and techniques including ultrasonic welding, heat staking, tampo pad printing, silkscreen printing and product assembly. EMI/RFI shielding can be achieved through conductive coatings or as an alternative compounded plastic materials. We also have access to hard coating and vacuum metallisation facilities. Product from the micro moulder can be packed in clean room conditions.

EMI/RFI Shielding

Conductive coatings are functional coatings that are intended for EMI/RFI (Electromagnetic Interference/Radio Frequency Interference) shielding and other applications which require electrical conductivity. They are also used for electrostatic discharge where static grounding is needed. These coatings are generally applied to plastic parts, used in the computer, electronic, and medical fields.

The coating is usually applied to the inside surfaces of an enclosure creating a Faradays cage once the product has been assembled. Copper and silver coated conductive paints are applied with specialised agitated paint spraying equipment. The purpose for the coatings may be for passing UL or FCC requirements, to get the product to market and to meet customer specifications regarding EMI/RFI attenuation.
